Florida International University (FIU) is a public research university located in Miami, Florida, USA. The university offers over 190 degree programs across its 11 schools and colleges, including programs in business, engineering, and law. In an effort to attract and support outstanding students, FIU offers the Presidential Merit Scholarship.

The Presidential Merit Scholarship is a highly competitive scholarship awarded to incoming freshmen who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and leadership potential.

The scholarship covers full tuition, fees, room and board, and provides additional funding for academic and personal expenses. The scholarship is renewable for up to four years, provided that the recipient maintains a minimum GPA of 3.0 and participates in designated leadership activities.

To be eligible for the Presidential Merit Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:

• Be a US citizen or permanent resident
• Have a minimum high school GPA of 4.0 on a 4.0 scale
• Have a minimum SAT score of 1400 or ACT score of 31
• Demonstrate leadership potential through extracurricular activities, community service, and/or employment

The Presidential Merit Scholarship application deadline for the academic year 2022/2023 is November 1, 2021. Applicants must submit a completed admissions application to FIU and a separate scholarship application, which includes an essay and two letters of recommendation.
